Maybe it's the fact that I'm on a self-imposed shopping ban... maybe it's the fact that I have an obsession with all things school related... maybe it's the fact that I like to torture myself... whatever.

All this fall-like, crisp weather has me yearning for new everthing. New sweaters, new boots, new glasses.... new school supplies even, like pencils and notebooks and erasers. And backpacks. I think, as a Christmas present to myself, I will be purchasing this Fjallraven Kanken backpack (I NEED a new backpack for when I start school again in the spring... I mean, hello, that Jansport backpack from my Junior year of high school is NOT cutting it anymore...)

Aren't they pretty? So rugged and lovely, all at the same time. They are a bit steep in price, but the description has me sold... they are MADE to be worn comfortably! I don't know about you, but my old, ragged Jansport backpack has never been comfy, that's for sure.

(Not to make this the longest post ever about backpacks, but they even have little, baby Kanken Mini's... how friggin' adorable/stylish is that?)

paper dolls

(I can't remember where I found these... if you can, please let me know so I can give proper credit!!)

Some days, a girl just needs to sit on the floor and play with her paper dolls. Some days, I wish I still had some... I only ever had a few books of them, but they are long gone, thrown into the trash can when my Barbie's won over my attention.

Now though, I probably wouldn't spend much time playing with them... now, I would probably frame them, hang them on the wall, and admire them from afar. Funny how things change, huh?

the plant gods

You know how they say if you put a thought out into the world, it just might come true? Well, apparently when you say you want plants for your home in a blog post, you get plants!

I'm not sure what they are exactly, but I do know they are pretty and they quench my need for some plant life around the home... they also make me want more! This may be a tricky new obsession...

ear warmer

1. I would like to own this pretty little ear warmer from emmadine (in taupe!).
2. I would like to have this girl's pretty curls.
3. I would like it to be cold enough outside to warrant wearing an ear warmer.

That is all.

i would wear it... vintage blazer!

I've decided to try something new and this is it's debut appearance... "i would wear it..." will be a series of outfit photos that feature one item from my Etsy shop, displaying how I would wear that specific item. I don't feature live models in my shop, and I don't do it myself because up until now, I've never had much success with taking my own photos (plus, I really dislike having my picture taken). However, I thought I'd try something new and see how it goes!

The featured item in this outfit is a gray, vintage blazer. It has the slightest of stripes throughout, and is fairly form fitting.

I am having a brand new love affair with blazers, so this one has been a hard item to part with. They are versatile and instantly up the class of any outfit. This blazer's lightweight yet warming fabric is perfect for fall, when the temps can jump up and down without much notice.

I chose to pair it with a skirt and a button up shirt since the weather has been fairly warm, making it easy to shed some layers if need be. However, once it finally decides to cool down a bit, it could easily transition with jeans and boots.

These plant photos from Jeana Sohn's blog are making me lust for more greenery in my home. I've been feeling the plant bug lately anyways, but these simple yet lively shots are making it hard to ignore.

My fiance is the one who introduced me to these air plants, and I think they'd be lovely sprinkled about on tables or windowsills. There's also so many ways you can go about planting them... in pretty, tiny pots or even old cameras (my personal favorite), and they're such an inexpensive yet pretty way to add a bit of green.

Has anyone ever owned any air plants? What have you done with yours?

good reads

I just finished this book by Liza Palmer. I've been trying to read more this summer, since it's one of my favorite things to do, and I've been pretty successful at it. Most of the time, I start a book and by the first chapter I've decided if I'm going to keep reading it or ditch it. This book was very slow to start, and I almost abandoned it after the first chapter. However, the author's sarcastic writing and detail to the little things made me keep going, and I'm glad I did.

It's not often that I find myself getting choked up over a story in a book, but I know it's a good one if I do. I cried a minimum of 5 times while reading and it only took me 3 days to finish, so you do the math.

The story of four children trying to deal with their parent's death and the aftermath of such a tragedy is maybe not something everyone can relate to... but it's at least something everyone has thought of a few times in their life. How do you deal with such a hard task? The story is heart wrenching at times, and the author does an amazing job at conveying the characters true feelings.

On a scale of 1-10, I give this book a 7.5. The writing is very well done, but the story is repetitive at times, making it a boring read at some points.

Needless to say, I'm off to the library to see if I can find a few other books of Liza Palmer's and see if they tug at the ol' heart strings the way this one did. I recommend reading it if you like books that are witty and emotional, all at the same time.

smitten

A tiny post to show my love for this necklace, goofy smile and all.

Thanks, Chelsea!

a perfect day for a perfect day

Lately, for one reason or another, I've had to consciously decide in the morning that my day is going to be good and positive. The sun is shining, I have a roof over my head (with A/C!), tons of clothes to keep me from going naked, and people who love me.

Today is a perfect day for a perfect day!!
